PAIRPOINT PUFFY OWL LAMP. Extremely rare Pairpoint Puffy owl lamp is only the seventh example known to exist. Approximately two years ago there were only five known examples when James D. Julia’s Lamp & Glass Dept. discovered the sixth known. It was a brown owl shade on the original owl base and the base was missing one glass eye. This outstanding example is a beautiful white snow owl on a complete, original owl base. The Puffy shade depicts a crouching owl with white feathers having light brown, yellow and blue highlights. The owl’s face features large golden eyes and brown beak. The border of the shade is decorated with green foliage, pine needles and limbs. The cast metal owl base retains much of its original gold patina. The lamp is finished with a two socket cluster featuring Hubbell sockets and original shade ring. The shade is signed on the outside edge in gold “Pat. Applied For”. Base is marked on the underside “Pairpoint Mfg Co” with a “P” inside a diamond and “3090”. SIZE: Shade is 12″ dia at widest with 10″ fitter. Overall 20-1/2″ t. CONDITION: Shade has an approx. 3-1/2″ tight hairline at the back. It appears the hairline may be original to the making as the shade still rings when lightly tapped. Bottom rim of the shade has several chips, all of which are concealed when the shade is in place on the ring. Base is very good to excellent with some normal wear to patina. Base has been rewired with plastic cord which is showing wear and should be replaced. 5-68654 (15,000-25,000)
