GALLE ETUDE MARQUETRY VASE. Wonderful large size Galle vase has marquetry flowers, stems and leaves against a swirling brown and cream colored background. The tall slender vase is finished with a three cornered mouth and while the marquetry flowers, stems and leaves are beautifully executed, they have been left uncarved. Vase is signed on the side with hand etched signature “Galle Etude”. SIZE: 12-1/2″ t. CONDITION: Etude pieces are pieces that received some type of damage in the heating and cooling process that was necessary in making marquetry pieces. When a piece received a stress fracture or other problem, but was still deemed by the factory to be a quality artistic work it was signed “Etude” and released for sale. This vase has a stress line in the bottom and some roughness to the surface of the glass on the interior but is truly an exceptional work of art. 5-60314 (10,000-12,000)
