IMPORTANT CARVED GILTWOOD FLAGPOLE EAGLE. Second half 19th century. Depicting a displayed eagle looking to the right perched on a sphere. The facial features and feathers very well rendered. Carved from the solid in pine. SIZE: 33″ overall h. Wingspan: 32″. PROVENANCE: Richard Paine Estate, Seal Cove, ME. CONDITION: Retains original surface with old patina, wing seams with old repaired splits and other normal shrinkage cracks, some minor insect damage to sphere. 9-92539 (10,000-15,000)
