RARE REMINGTON 1ST MODEL NEW MODEL PERCUSSION POCKET REVOLVER WITH ORIGINAL BOX. Cal. 31. SN 33. Blued bbl, cyl, & loading lever, silvered frame with casehardened hammer. 3-1/8” oct bbl with crisp bbl markings, blade front sight, 2-pc smooth rosewood grips. Very early first year (1865-66) production. Consignor states that this is the only known original boxed 1st Model pocket revolver known to exist. Accompanied by orig black basket weave pattern trapezoidal shaped cardboard box partitioned for & containing very rare orig steel ball & bullet mold & orig cleaning rod. CONDITION: Excellent. Cyl & loading lever retain about 95% of orig bright blue, but most of it has flaked off of bbl, leaving a blue/gray patina mixed with orig bright blue. Casehardening colors on hammer are bright on right side & rear, slightly faded on left. Silver on frame is about 99% intact with light scratches. Grips retain most of their varnish, with slight wear at the base and a hairline crack on the left side visible only from the bottom. Bore is very good. Mechanically fine. Box shows some old repairs, it is scuffed around the edges & lid is slightly warped. Tools are bright. 4-59450 JH66 (16,000-18,000)
