JAMES GAYLE TYLER (American, 1855-1931) THE PORT LIGHT. Fine oil on canvas nautical scene shows a three-mast ship sailing at a slight angle toward viewer in a moonlit evening scene. The port light shines bright red and partial sails are up. It moves through wavy ocean with two ships in the background. The full moon shines bright behind clouds and blue sky. Signed lower left and numbered on reverse of canvas “292”. Housed in its magnificent original fancy gilt frame with gilt liner. SIZE: 20″ x 16″. CONDITION: Very good. 9-22368 (1,800-2,400)
