AMERICAN FEDERAL MAHOGANY BANJO TIMEPIECE, AARON WILLARD MOVEMENT. First quarter 19th century, Boston. The crossbanded case surmounted by cast brass eagle finial above the enameled metal dial with Roman numeral chapter ring and time only aperture. Above the throat with eglomise panel a classical scene of an urn with floral sprig within a foliate frame, flanked by brass fillets. The box base fitted with similar eglomise panel with foliate decoration. The brass eight day movement stamped “A. Willard/Boston”, in the top right corner of the plate. Clock is offered with weight, pendulum and winder. SIZE: 34-1/2″ h. CONDITION: Dial, pendulum and glasses appear original. Case has been refurbished. Hands appear replaced, otherwise very good. 9-27718 (800-1,200)
