STEPHEN LEWIN (British, -1910) “STRIKING A BARGAIN”. Outstanding oil on canvas interior scene shows a well dressed gentleman seated next to a table with a painting resting against its leg. Another painting is seen behind the gentleman and the room is seen with other paintings, glass front bookcase and chair. An older gentleman with glasses and Oriental style robe is looking down at the patron. Signed lower right. Housed in its magnificent gesso decorated gilt frame with gold liner having artist name “Stephen Lewin, R.I.” and title “Striking a Bargain”. Several labels are affixed to back stretcher and frame. One from the Classic Fine Art Gallery and others indicating the artist has exhibited in the Royal Institute and Academy. SIZE: 26-1/2” x 32-1/4”.
