*WINCHESTER 1886 TAKE-DOWN LEVER ACTION RIFLE. SN 156985. Cal. 50EX, 26″ octagon to round bbl, full mag take-down, marble reversible front sight, blank in rear seat. Top flat of octagon portion finely matted. Top flat is marked “MANUFACTURED BY THE / WINCHESTER REPEATING ARMS CO. NEW HAVEN. CONN. U.S.A.” Left flat adjacent receiver ring “50EX”. Standard receiver left side mounted with Lyman lever peep sight. A WP proof mark is found top of receiver ring. Mounted with straight grain walnut, uncheckered straight grip, Winchester hard rubber buttplate, sling eye 4-1/4″ from toe, standard forend, nose cap fit with sling eye. Accompanied with Cody Firearms Museum fact sheet recording no record – SN too high. CONDITION: Very good. Bbl retains a fine restored blue finish with minor muzzle wear, thinning at sharp edges and normal nicks & scratches. Matting on top flap is shallow and very thin at outer edges. Mag tube shows strong restored blue with typical rub marks from take-down. Receiver shows orig blue, strong on sides, silvering on sharp edges, thinning and blending with brown patina across bottom. There are a couple small cleaned areas of shallow pitting on right side. Hammer shows thinning blue blending with silver patina. Lever is a gray mixed with brown patina with orig colors in protected area. Stock is sound with some normal nicks & dings and retains an added varnish finish. Forend is sound with some minor nicks & dings and retains a restored finish. Nose cap retains a restored blue. Mechanics are good. Shiny bore with some minor pitting in grooves. 4-36901 BDT173 (7,500-12,500)
