ATTRIBUTED TO SHELDON PECK (American, 1797-1868) SELF PORTRAIT. Extremely rare self portrait, circa 1825-30. Oil on poplar panel half portrait showing a man with black hair wearing a black coat with white shirt. His arms are crossed on his lap and his elbow rests next to two books. A large white column is off his right shoulder. Unsigned. Housed in a walnut Victorian frame. NOTE: The portrait shows a close resemblance of known photographs of the artist. SIZE: 36″ x 25-1/2″. CONDITION: Untouched with small chip off left border. Very good. 9-99386 (10,000-30,000)
