AUTOGRAPHED LETTER DATED MAY 30TH 1709 BY QUEEN ANNE OF GREAT BRITAIN. The letter signed at top “Anne R”. The letter as follows “Our Will and Pleasure is That out of such Moneys as are or shall come to Your hands for the Use of Our Forces You Pay unto Our Trusty and Welbeloved Major General James Maitland the Sume of One hundred Twenty Six Pound Sixteen Shillings and Seven pence halfpenny, the same being Certifiy’d by You to be Due to Our Garrison of Fort William under his Command for their Pay from the 25th of October to the 22d of December 1708. Both days incl. being 59. Days according to the Establishment and Muster Roll. And for So doing this with the Acquittance of the said Major General James Maitland or his Assign shall be Your Warrant and Discharge. Given at Our Court of St. James’s this 30. Day of May 1709 in the Eighth Year of Our Reign/By her Majty’s Command. Walpole (countersigned)/To Our Right Trusty and/Welbeloved Councillour/John Howe Esqr.
