SIX PIECES PERTAINING TO ADMIRAL GEORGE DEWEY. 1) Membership certificate to the Naval Library and Institute. “At a stated meeting of the Naval Library and Institute held on the 30 day of Sept. 1871 Lt. Cmdr. George Dewey, USN was duly elected an annual member”. The certificate having an engraving of ships in Boston Harbor by J H Bufford after a painting by Robert Salmon. 2) Leather bound book “Floating Dry Docks” with presentation binding “Admiral George Dewey, USN”. Inside inscribed “To Admiral George Dewey” with the inclusion of two calling cards from Mr. Sven Anderson and Mr. Frederick W. Wood (President Maryland Steel Co.). Edited by Sven Anderson and published by the Maryland Steel Co., 1907. 3) Book: Admiral Dewey and Manila Campaign inscribed inside “Stephen Decatur, June 1949 given me by the Naval Historical Foundation of which I am a member”. 4) Book: The Dewey Reception, New York, 1899. A book of 980 portraits and views. 5) Book: “The Romance of Prince Eugene” by Albert Pulitzer, 1895 inscribed “George Dewey, Manila, 1899”. 6) Photograph album inscribed on inside “A Merry Xmas to Admiral George Dewey from Your Faithfully? 1899. The album includes photographs of Dewey and crews along with interior shots, men at dining table, men at station, men doing chores, exterior shots of the ship entering New York Harbor, ship proceeding past Grant’s tomb, 25 double sided pages total.
