IMPORTANT SCRIMSHAW TOOTH OF THE PIRATE ALWILDA. This large tooth depicting a polychrome decorated female figure with large plumed hat wearing a patterned jacket and trousers, a brace of pistols at her waist, saber in her right hand, a large American flag in her left. The opposing side depicting a courting scene. SIZE: 9″ l. PROVENANCE: From a private Utah collection. CONDITION: The scrimshaw on this tooth is a fine detail in quality, polychrome inks remain vibrant, surfaces well polished, tooth with old shrinkage cracks commensurate with age.
