BOOKS FROM THE LIBRARY OF STEPHEN DECATUR. Seven books of nautical interest including REGULATIONS GOVERNING THE UNIFORM OF COMMISSIONED OFFICERS etc., (1897) with numerous color litho plates; Kemps’ A MANUAL OF YACHT AND BOAT SAILING London: 1880. Small folio in poor condition but with many diagrams; SKETCHES OF NAVAL LIFE…SHORES OF THE MEDITERRANEAN…FROM THE BRANDYWINE AN D CONSTITUTION FRIGATES authored by a “Civilian” (G. W. Blagden) in 1829, published in New Haven. Small Octavo, two volumes (complete) the large folding map of the Mediterranean Sea in fine condition but significant damage to spine and boards. The folding map in volume II equally fine. We believe this to be a presentation copy with the later ownership signature of Stephen Decatur dated in 1903. WITH: An early issue of Mark Twain’s A TRAMP ABROAD (1880, with the “Moses” caption to the front plate, a rough copy). WITH: CORBESIER’S PRINCIPLES OF SQUAD INSTRUCTION FOR THE BROADSWORD. Phila: 1869. Complete with the ten plates but with some water stains and discoloration to boards front and rear with the signature “Stephen Decatur”. WITH: Two late 19th Century manuscript account books for SONS OF THE REVOLUTION OF THE STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE. Stephen Decatur was the treasurer for this organization. WITH: THE TWIN SEVENSHOOTERS. A presentation copy accompanied by a TLS by the author Charles F. Manderson. A good copy. WITH: A seventh edition of THE WHITE MOUNTAIN GUIDE BOOK. The frontice map fine, the large folding map with foxing, tears, etc. and with the signature of W. B. Decatur, Kittery Point, Maine. With about seven others.
