RARE SAILOR MADE COCONUT URN LOVE TOKEN. Mid 19th century, New England. The profusely carved coconut body of pinwheel design beneath a row of lunettes and diamond shaped band in lower section joined to a reel carved maple pedestal. The coconut with conforming stepped and turned maple lid with mushroom finial. SIZE: 8-1/2″ h. CONDITION: Cap and base in original black paint. Coconut with original dry varnished finish. Old chip in pedestal base appears to be left in the making. Otherwise very good with no restoration. Normal and expected abrasion throughout. 9-28520 (800-1,200)
