TWO SCRIMSHAW WHALE TEETH. Late 19th century. American. Larger tooth, depicting interior family scene, whaling ship can be seen through the window, opposite, depicting harvest of whales at sea. Smaller tooth, depicting southern port scene with barrels and casks in the foreground, warehouse identified as “Waring & Co. Limited”, amidst palm trees. Opposite side depicting seated within a surrey passing through a southern village with palm trees. SIZE: Larger: 6-1/4″ l. Smaller: 5″ l. PROVENANCE: From a fine New Jersey home.
