EDWIN DEAKIN (American, 1838-1923) “NO. 104 SIERRA LAKE”. Fine oil on canvas western scene shows a large mountain range partially covered in snow with tall waterfall emptying into a lake. The foreground having a Native American woman near campfire. She has a backpack cradle with child on her back. The campfire is on the edge of a rocky tall tree shoreline. Signed lower right “Edwin Deakin 1879″. Housed in a decorative carved wood replacement frame. Attached to reverse of stretcher is a Maxwell Galleries San Francisco label with artist and title. SIZE: 36″ x 24”. PROVENANCE: From the Estate of Geraldine Gaba, Scottsdale, AZ. CONDITION: Relined, some inpainting. Very good. 9-94800 (10,000-20,000)
