CHILDE HASSAM (American, 1859-1935) “LE PORT ROYAL”. Pen and ink drawing of a French scene shows a three-arch bridge over a large river with river passenger boat. A large building is seen on other bank with trees and a fisherman is seen in foreground against a metal rail fence. There is a pencil sketched figure next to him. Signed lower right “Childe Hassam” in pencil and also “09” below the penned title on bottom left. On back is an unsigned 7” x 9” pencil sketch of a harbor scene. Housed in a gilt decorative frame with white matte, no glass. SIZE: 10-1/4” x 13-3/4”. CONDITION: There are two 1” tears and a 1/4” tear to the right margin. The top right corner has 1” x 1-1/2” section missing. Some brown toning to borders. Examined out of frame. 9-28969 (2500-3500)
