ATTRIBUTED TO CAMILLE JEAN-BAPTISTE COROT (French, 1796-1895) “LE BATEAU DE LA VIE” (THE BOAT OF LIFE). Mixed media on paper scene shows a row boat with dog, three men, two women and a child. It rows down a river lined with trees and hills in the background. Signed lower left “Corot”. Housed in a gesso decorated gilt frame. The back having an Alfred Brod Gallery label and a typed paper indicating that Mr. Richard Hirsch, curator of the University Art Museum of Texas, in 1972 attributed this painting to Corot on the belief that it was a late study for an oil painting. It was also his opinion that the old man with the hat in the center is a self portrait of Corot. SIZE: 18-1/4” x 26”. CONDITION: Very good. 9-90292 LG (4,000-6,000)
