*FINE FRANCOTTE MODEL 140E DBL BBL SHOTGUN. Cal. 12 ga. SN 86420. Beautiful sidelock dbl with 26″ bbls, choked IMP-CYL (.009)/IMP-CYL (.008) with tapered matted rib, single silver bead and rib extension with modified Greener crossbolt. The bbls have dbl lump & ejectors with 2-5/8″ chambers and the locks have cocked indicators. The right bbl is marked “Von Lengerke & Detmold” and the left bbl is marked “U.S. Agents New York”. It has dbl triggers with the front articulated. The receiver & lockplates are engraved by the outstanding master engraver, Corombelle with full coverage leaf, vine & floral patterns that have a fine stippled background. The fences have side clips and the top tang has “SAFE” in gold. The opening lever, top tang, trigger guard and forend iron and about 1/2″ of the chamber end of the bbls are engraved to match. The wood is beautiful marbled honey & chocolate French walnut with a checkered splinter forearm and round knob Prince of Wales stock, 14-1/4″ over a solid red pad. It has raised teardrop side panels. Drop at the heel, 2-1/2”, drop at the comb 1-5/8”. Weight 6 lbs 7.03 oz. CONDITION: Very fine. Bbls retain 95-96% of a fine professionally restored finish. Receiver retains traces of original case colors with the balance turned silver. Lockplates retain 70-75% faded case colors with the balance turned silver. Wood is sound and retains most of a fine professionally restored finish with the checkering showing wear. Mechanics are fine, brilliant shiny bores.
