*BUTCH SEARCY AFRICAN DANGEROUS GAME DBL RIFLE. Cal. 470 Nitro Express. SN 470JOM. Fine custom dbl rifle built on a box lock action undercut at the rear edges to secure the side panels. It has 24″ bbls with a concave smooth rib, pedestal mounted caterpiller front sight and 1/4 rib with 2-leaf express sight, one standing and one folding. It has dbl lump with modified doll’s head rib extension. It is mounted in beautiful honey & chocolate, highly figured French walnut wood with checkered torpedo shaped splinter forearm and capped pistol grip stock with sweeping classic cheek piece and straight comb, 14-3/4″ over a brown Decelerator pad. It has gold plated dbl triggers & ejectors. The stock & bbl are mounted with safari sling studs. The receiver, top tang, opening lever, forend iron, trigger guard & about 2″ up the bbl are very nicely engraved in intertwining foliate arabesque patterns with stippled background. All the surfaces on the receiver, top tang, opening lever & trigger plate are outlined with gold wire inlay. The top tang has “SAFE” in gold. There is a corresponding gold band at the chamber end of the bbls. The floor plate is inlaid with an exquisitely detailed raised gold bull elephant with plane trees in the background. The forend iron is engraved to match and also has gold wire borders. The grip cap has a large raised gold family crest. The bbls are engraved on the right side “B. Searcy Boron. Ca. U.S.A.” and “470 Nitro Express” on the left bbl. Weight 10 lbs. 4 oz. CONDITION: Extremely fine, as new, may have been fired but if so, very little. It retains virtually all of its beautiful original finish to both metal & wood with faint thinning at the muzzle end and a small handling & use nick or two with one small rectangular bruise near the toe.
