ENGLISH VICTORIAN QUARTER SAWN OAK BRASS BOUND STATIONARY BOX. Of rectangular form with sloping front, the hinged lid opening above the sloping doors to an interior with month, day, and date apertures above a series of oak dividers with scalloped edges compartmented for stationary, ink bottles, and pen tray, the frieze drawer below opening by means of a spring loaded catch and mounted with a plaque inscribed “Presented to Mr. W. Bland by teachers & pupils of Dover British School, July, 1875”. The whole fitted with brass strapping and inset brass carrying handles. Size: 16” h x 16” w x 11-1/2”d. CONDITION: Retains original surfaces and patina, ink stand, calendar cards and key, very good overall condition. 9-90490 SM (750-1,250)
