EXTREMELY RARE M7 COLT FIRST MODEL BAYONET FOR THE AR15/M16. Prototype for the eventual production model of the soon to be famous rifle. It has an M4 style blade, 7” long with 4” of back grind marked in one line on right side “COLT’S PT FA MFG. CO. HARTFORD CT. U.S.A.” It has a solid green composite handle with 1/8” thick handguard with large ring to accommodate the AR15/M16 flash hider. It has an M4 style latch but more squared across top. Accompanied by an orig M8 type sheath with Fiberglass body & metal throat painted OD, with M4 style OD canvas belt hanger and thumb strap with wire pistol belt hanger. It has its orig rawhide thong. See figure 424 in The Black Rifle M16 Retrospective, Stevens & Ezell. CONDITION: As new with light rubs on blade. Handle is near perfect and sheath is new. 4-56733 JR470 (1,000-1,500)
