WINCHESTER MODEL 1876 LEVER ACTION RIFLE. Cal. 40-60. SN 49713. Standard grade rifle with 28″ oct bbl, full magazine, half nickel front sight with homemade blade and an “1876” marked ladder rear sight. The wood is straight grain American walnut, uncheckered with straight grip and crescent buttplate with trap. The right side of the butt stock at the buttplate has a sheet brass panel nailed to the right side. CONDITION: About fine, no original finish remains, having been cleaned with an artificially aged light patina over some fine pitting. The wood is nicked, dinged and scratched with a series of gouges on both sides of the butt stock, otherwise the wood is sound and retains generous amounts of an old refinish. Mechanics are a little sticky but functional, strong dark bore with light pitting. 4-51598 JR770 (1,250-1,750)
