*MARLIN MODEL 1893 LEVER ACTION RIFLE. Cal. 30-30. SN 372980. Fine take down rifle with 26″ oct bbl, German silver Rocky Mountain front sight and semi-buckhorn rear sight. The wood is uncheckered American walnut with straight stock and semi-crescent smooth steel buttplate. It has “Special Smokeless Steel” on the left flat of the bbl and “Marlin Safety” on the top of the receiver. CONDITION: Extremely fine. Bbl and magazine tube retain about 98% strong bright original blue with a few tiny scratches and some minor, light surface discoloration on the magazine tube. Forend cap retains virtually all of its original bright factory blue. Receiver, lever and hammer retain about all of their original factory case colors, strong and bright on the take down ring, left side of receiver and bolt with an area of faded colors on the right side. Lever has bright colors in the sheltered areas with the balance fading to silver and the hammer generally bright colors. Buttplate has turned silver with some fine pitting. Wood is sound and retains virtually all of its bright original varnish on the stock, slightly alligatored with a few light handling and use marks. Forearm retains about 85% strong bright original varnish with the losses probably from some old bore cleaner. One small gouge on the bottom of the forearm. Mechanics are fine, brilliant shiny bore. 4-53675 JR982 (3,500-5,000)
