*COLT MODEL 1903 HAMMER PISTOL. Cal. 38ACP. SN 40502. This is a fairly early example of a Colt 38 auto sport model (smaller version of the 1902 Sport) is in good overall condition showing use, but no abuse and 100% originality. Mechanics of this pistol, however, could use a good cleaning as due to a lot of dried grease on the interior that causes the slide to bind slightly in the closed position and the magazine catch to not work very well. I truly believe with someWD-40 or some break-free, it would work fine, mechanically. Bore shows fairly dark and well-used as most of these were. Pistol comes with a pebble brown finish box that has believed to have been of the later 40’s, early 50’s era, with the only intact part of the label being where it said “COLT”. CONDITION: Frame retains approx. 85% of the orig bright blue with the primary wear being on the front and rear straps and just a little on the front edges from disassembly. Slide shows approx. 40% of the orig finish, with the front 1/2 or better showing plum on the sides presumably from being holstered or carried. Rear portion of the slide and most of the top show excellent blue. Hammer still exhibits strong, but mellowing, case colors. Magazine is in excellent condition with some dried grease on it. Box is in rather tattered condition, but complete with the exception of the front lip. 4-58983 BK91 (700-900)
