*RARE WINCHESTER MODEL 56 BOLT ACTION RIFLE. Cal. 22 Short only. SN 155. Rare little rifle with only about 1,835 produced in the years 1926-1931. This is a first year production rifle with 22″ tapered rnd bbl, Jack front sight and a Model 40 rear sight and a Lyman receiver sight. It is mounted in a nicely figured 1-piece walnut stock with semi-schnable forend tip and semi-pistol grip butt with checkered steel buttplate. It is accompanied by a rare patent date marked, 22 short only magazine. CONDITION: Extremely fine, near new, retains virtually all of its fine factory finish to both metal and wood. The bbl has a couple of tiny nicks and the stock a few minor handling & storage nicks with two tiny gouges on the right wrist and a deep gouge on the left side of the forestock.
