HAENL FALLING BLOCK GERMAN SCHUTZEN RIFLE. Cal. 8.15 x 46R. NSN. Typical Haenl Aydt falling block action with 33″ tapered oct bbl, ramp front sight with ears, matted top flat with groove for mid-range bbl sight. It has a rear pedestal vernier peep sight with large eye cup. It has wide spread dbl set triggers and the typical Schutzen lever. It has Haenl Schutzen butt stock with massive cheek piece and thumb rest. The stock is beautifully carved and checkered with foliate patterns on both sides and incorporates a dolphin and blossoms on the right side. The forearm is carved to match. The receiver is intricately engraved with a large vignette of three Raebuck on the left side and a young man in traditional German hunting gear kissing a young woman with a detailed table and stein in the background on the right side. Both vignettes are surrounded with oak leaf and acorn patterns having a fine stippled background. The top and bottom of the receiver and lower tang are engraved in geometric patterns and the bottom of the lever is engraved with a mythical figure. CONDITION: Fine to very fine, The bbl retains 75-80% strong bright original blue with some light surface rust on the top three flats. There is light active rust under the forearm. The receiver retains most of its original case colors with a few small spots of light surface rust. The thumb rest is lightly chipped, otherwise the wood is sound with a series of small gouges on the right side of the comb and another on the left side of the buttstock. The forearm has a series of small bruises and a small gouge. Mechanics are fine, bright shiny bore. 4-53181 JR763 (2,000-3,500)
