*SPRINGFIELD M1 GARAND. Cal. 30 (gas trap). SN 14387. This is a very good example of a late 1939 vintage gas trap Garand. It appears to have most if not all of its orig parts with the only the op-rod and seventh round stoppage modified. Rifle shows excellent overall with correct sling and the following parts: Stock SA-SPG without drawing board number, 2 equal holes without modification, buttplate number C-46012 (screws not numbered), trigger housing number 28290 with large pad, small hole, hammer number C46008 with hole, trigger number C46020-2 with hole, safety C-46015-4, blue hammer spring housing, trigger guard C46025 with rings, bolt D28287-1/HL J-7, and rear sight aperture B8868-1/cover B8872 parkerized. Both sight knobs are numbered, bbl D-28286 HL/J-14-A (rear to front), Lower band is milled with groove with no number. There is no number is on wood and no number on nose cap. Front sight B8892-0 with grooves. Op-rod D35382-0 “Modified”. Follower unnumbered, clip latch unnumbered, bullet guide B-8875, follower arm B-8869 with 2 bevels, keystone spring real but broken in 2 pieces, comp spring real, follower rod unmarked. CONDITION: Rifle appears to be 100% authentic with the exception of the later modification of the op-rod and seventh round stoppage. Receiver is gray-green Parkerizing, but 90% finish with a slight pitted area on the heel. Bolt is black oxide as should be and retains about 90% finish. Op-rod, though modified, retains about 75-80% of its orig finish. Bbl shows better than 90%. Trigger housing assembly retains about 90% finish as does buttplate. Stock is in exceptional condition with minor scuffing throughout, no significant scars or blemishes, and a very prominent cartouche. Front and rear hand guards are both in excellent condition with minor scarring and scratches and no relief cut on rear. Mechanics are fine and bore is fairly bright with some slight pitting.
