AUGUSTE PARIS (French, 1850-1915) “LE TEMPS ET LA CHANSON”. Outstanding figural bronze mounted on a revolving base atop a marble plinth set with a central clock. The bronze depicts a standing semi nude maiden holding an arrangement of paper or cloth in her left hand and arm while her other arm is held out with open hand. She has a dress which is draped below her chest. Seated next to her is Father Time with his hand around her wait. His wings and scythe surround her. Signed “Au. Paris. Sculpt”. The bronze sits in a round bronze base which allows it to rotate. The bronze base with a bronze plaque having title and as follows “Aux lilas embaumes, quand tout renait et chante le temps. Laissant sa faux inoccupee un jour. T’enlace en souriant: O jeunesse! Et s’enchante de l’ineffable echo d’un immortel amour.” Base is affixed to the top of a molded edge red and black marble plinth with ormolu mid molding and ormolu bezel frame. The round white enameled dial having two keyholes and marked “Suise Freres Aaria?”. SIZE: Overall is 29″ h. Marble base is 5-1/2″ h x 15-3/4″ w x 12″ d. CONDITION: Very good.
