STEVENS MODEL 52 HEAVY SINGLE SHOT TARGET RIFLE. Cal. 22 Short. SN 4546. Built on a 44 action with 30″ #4 weight oct to rnd bbl with interchangeable globe front sight, no provision for a rear sight and a Lyman loop tang sight. It has beautifully figured, about 3X, checkered, Schutzen style, buttstock and semi-schnable tipped heavy forearm. The buttstock has an “S” shaped grip cap with sweeping cheek piece and perch belly bottom with Schutzen buttplate. The receiver is very nicely engraved on both sides and over the top three flats with some light flourishes on the top tang of foliate arabesque patterns. It has Schutzen spaced dbl set triggers and a full loop lever. CONDITION: Very fine, the bbl retains about 90% original blue with some brown toning over the forearm area and a small area of fine pitting. The receiver, lever and buttplate retain most of a fine professionally restored case colored finish. The wood is sound with usual handling and use marks, nicks and scratches with a couple of bruises on the perch belly and moderate wear on the forearm. Otherwise retains most of the original varnish on the butt stock and about 70% original varnish on the forearm.
