*WINCHESTER MODEL G-30 EXPERIMENTAL RIFLE. Cal. 30. SN 67. The Winchester Model 30 was authorized for development in Sept. of 1941. It was a 30-06 semi-automatic gas operated rifle with a detachable box magazine. Only a few of these rifles were made up for text purposes. At a glance, they give the appearance of a cross between a “German G.43” and an “M1 Carbine” on steroids. This particular gun has very good providence including copies of shipping documents where this weapon was purchased by Norman Flayderman in Feb. 1976 from “Winchester Repeating Arms”. These are an extremely rare firearm as this is the 2nd one that this cataloger has seen in his 40+ years being involved in guns. CONDITION: Receiver retains 90% of the orig high quality Winchester Blue and what seems just slight wear from being actuated and there is a slight machining flaw as there are some factory gouges in the receiver, on the left side, just behind the receiver ring, as if the end mill had a chip in it when machining this piece. There is however a small weld at the rear of the operating rod groove that could very well be an orig factory weld, as examples of this are so rare there is nothing to compare it to. Operating rod assembly has 95% orig blue, and bolt is highly polished. Rear site assembly is quite unique and is in perfect condition. The bbl front site and bbl band assemblies are in great condition with only minimal wear from being handled. The trigger guard and box magazine assemblies have 90-95% of their orig finish with slight problem of the magazine not latching properly. The buttstock and hand guard show only minor handling marks and the aluminum w/trap checkered buttplate shows as new and is quite unique in manufacture. Buttstock also has an aluminum inventory tag on it with the number “W67” on the lower left near the rear swing swivel. This would be a wonderful gun to add to a collection that encompasses experimentals and oddities. 4-58398 BK18 (35,000-75,000)
