*REMINGTON 1917 RIFLE. Cal. 30. SN 170724. This is a very nice example of a 1917 Remington. Overall the metal is in outstanding condition and the wood is very good. Rifle is equipped with a 1917 Remington bayonet and scabbard. CONDITION: Receiver retains approx. 90% of its blue with the balance of loss being on the rear sight ears and a little bit on the bolt release. Bbl, which is dated “2-17”, shows better than 95% of its orig blue, as does the front sight assembly, with just a few nicks in the top of the bbl from being in racks. Bore is outstanding. The bands of this rifle show a significant amount of finish loss with the front band turning to a patina, and the middle band showing more of a browning. The trigger guard and floorplate assembly are excellent showing 90% or better orig blue, with the buttplate showing about 30%. Wood is in very good condition with a small arsenal repair approx. 3” long x 1/2” wide about 1” rear of the trigger guard on the left hand side at 5 o’clock from the “SS 1919” cartouche that is present. There is also an eagle head with the letter “I” stamped directly behind the trigger guard and another eagle head with the number “339” in front of the trigger guard. Buttstock does show some slight dinging and marring throughout, though not very prominent, with sharp finger grooves and a nice look to it. Rear hand guard is in excellent condition with 1 very small ding on the left side of the sight groove. Front hand guard has 2 or 3 very minor dings with no cracks. Bayonet and scabbard are in mint condition. 4-58742 BK75 (750-1,250)
