AMERICAN ARTS & CRAFTS POLYCHROME DECORATED AND CARVED BOMBE BLANKET CHEST IN THE ART NOUVEAU TASTE. Circa 1910. Rectangular hinged lid with rectangular panel centering grape vines and shield in which is written “Welcome the coming speed the parting guest” all within a foliate border done in shades of orange and green on a mustard ground. Lid opening to a cedar lined well. Case of Bombe form, carved overall with foliate designs and scrolling vines. Center of the front panel depicting two cherubs holding a cartouche with burned cross. Whole raised on bracket feet with shaped apron and shaped returns. Circa 1915. SIZE: 17″ h x 42″ l x 18-3/4″ d. CONDITION: Maintains original finish, color somewhat faded, normal wear to be expected.
