THE ORIGINAL PERSONAL GUIDON OF GENERALISSIMO FRANCISO FRANCO OF SPAIN. This is the actual guidon used by Franco during the 50’s, 60’s & 70’s.. Upon his death in 1975 it was given to General Antonio Aleman of the Spanish Army, a close friend and military colleague. Upon General Aleman’s death the guidon passed to his daughter, Ms. Mari Carmen Aleman. In 1997 Ms. Aleman gave the guidon to Cpt. Roniel Aledo who has maintained it in his possession since then. This little guidon appears to be made of silk, is dbl sided, 5-3/4″ long by about 5″ wide with bordering gold thread fringe. It is imprinted with what the Spanish referred to as “dragantes lobos” (dragon wolves) appearing from the top and bottom corners with crowned columns (the pillars of Hercules) in the opposite corners, one of which is wrapped with a ribbon inscribed “Plus” and the other inscribed “Vltra”. The term “guidon”, in this instance, is not a reference to a cavalry flag but derives from the Spanish “Guion” which indicates a personal flag of a Chief-of-State. Framed in an inexpensive gold colored frame with black backing. CONDITION: Fine. Lightly soiled with some fraying around the back edges. Colors are bright and appears to be completely intact. 4-53187 JR931 (2,500-5,000)
