SPRINGFIELD TRAPDOOR TRAINING/FENCING RIFLE. Made from a trapdoor rifle with 24-1/2” bbl, having a bayonet stud on right side at muzzle with cut down stock & two bands without sling swivels. Breech block is dated “1878” and has had thumb latch cut off so it cannot be opened. It has a standard flat lockplate without hammer or internal parts and it has an 1873 buttplate without trapdoor. CONDITION: Fine. Bbl retains a blue/brown patina and lockplate most of its orig blue. Breechblock has brilliant case colors. Stock is sound with bruises near toe with others on forestock and has an oil finish. 4-58521 JR670 (500-1,000)
