RARE CHAFFEE-REESE ARMY RIFLE. Cal. 45/70. NSN. 28” rnd bbl. Marked “U.S – SPRINGFIELD.- 1884.” on upper left rail of receiver. Standard proof marks at rear of bbl and “C-R” on left side of ski jump rear sight. “SWP” cartouche at rear of left side of stock is dated 1884. CONDITION: 80% blue on bbl and trigger guard. Gray patina with light pitting on action and buttplate. Stock has been broken and repaired through wrist with light sanding and refinish. Only one track appears to be in magazine tube. Bore is bright but lightly pitted. Edwards Collection 4-58486 (1,000-2,000)
