MARLIN MODEL 94 EASTERN CARBINE. SN 438291. Cal. 44-40, 20″ rnd bbl, full mag, dovetail fine bead front sight with set screw, carbine ladder rear sight missing retaining screw. Top of bbl is marked “MARLIN FIRE-ARMS CO., NEW-HAVEN, CT. U.S.A. / PAT’D OCT. 11. 1887. APRIL 2. 1889. AUG. 1. 1893.” Adjacent receiver “44-40”. Standard receiver with top tang marked “MARLIN / MODEL ’94.” with six-pointed star in front of tang screw. Mounted with lightly figured straight grain walnut, uncheckered straight grip, curved steel buttplate, standard forend with single band. Inspection of inside tang reveals matching “438291” on left side of top tang and top tang channel of stock. PROVENANCE: Richard Rohal Estate Collection CONDITION: Very Good+. Bbl and mag tube retain orig blue that is toning with brown patina with normal minor nicks & scratches. Receiver retains mottled orig case colors thinning and blending with silver and brown patina. Loading gate retains strong orig nitre blue. Stock is sound with normal nicks, dings & scratches, Marlin trademark bull’s eye can be found 4-1/4″ from toe and retains a thin coat of added finish. Forend is sound with normal nicks, dings & scratches, retains a thin coat of added finish blending with hand-worn patina. Mechanics are crisp with shiny bore with one shallow spot of pitting near muzzle. 4-40421 BDT205 (3,000-5,000)
