SPRINGFIELD MODEL 1879 SADDLERING CARBINE. Cal. 45/70. SN 139365. 22” rnd bbl. Compartment under trapdoor in buttplate contains the two-piece cleaning rod and headless shell extractor. An incorrect front sight cover has been installed. “SWP” cartouche is dated 1881. CONDITION: Blue/brown patina mixed with surface rust and pitting. Short crack at rear of lockplate. Stock is otherwise fine. Mechanically fine. Bore has moderate pitting. Edwards Collection 4-58482 (750-1,250)
