ITALIAN JACOBEAN CARVED WALNUT CASSONE. Probably mid-18th century. The rectangular hinged lid with molded and notched edges opening to an interior fitted with till, the conforming case faced with figural carved panels alternating with flat molded panels joined to the half-round plinth carved with gadrooned edge and raised on carved paw feet. SIZE: 24″ h. x 36″ w. x 24″ d. CONDITION: Repolished with professional restoration, including 6-inch section of half-round molding right rear facing, some restored inner moldings. Rear corners of lid are spliced. Retains original wrought-iron hardware including lock. 9-92344 (1,400-2,000)
