ASSEMBLED SPRINGFIELD TRAPDOOR RIFLE WITH METCALF DEVICE AND SLING. Cal. 45/70. SN 62410. 32-5/8” rnd bbl. Standard Springfield markings for this period, including “ESA” cartouche on left side of stock. A number “50” has been stamped in tiny letters on comb in front of lockplate. The Metcalf bar is installed on stock between lockplate and rear bbl band. It is accompanied by 2 reproduction Metcalf blocks and a spare Metcalf lockplate. Also accompanied by a socket bayonet with metal sheath with swiveling frog. CONDITION: Retains about 75% of an old reblue. Stock was lightly sanded before the refinish. Metcalf bar has a brown patina with light pitting. Sling is scuffed and cracked, but still solid. One of the repro blocks is cracked. The other appears to be like new. Bayonet is near new.
