WALDO PEIRCE (American, 1884-1970) “HALLOWEEN, SEARSPORT 47”. Unframed large oil on canvas scene shows young bare bottom boy (John, Waldo’s son) looking up at a lit jack-o-lantern resting on a ornate stand placed in front of a window with crescent moon and black sky. Red curtains, venetian blind and blue vase of milkweed add to the composition. Signed lower left “W.P.”. Back of canvas has title, signature and also “Nursery Panel No. 3”. Exhibit label from the William A. Farnsworth Museums Retrospective Exhibition 1984. PROVENANCE: Consigned directly from the artist’s family. SIZE: 47” x 26”.
