Outstanding oil on canvas Gloucester Harbor scene shows a green and red hulled fishing boat with smaller boat beside at a large wharf with red building. Beyond is a single mast schooner on a long wharf with other boats. Beyond the scene is the city hillside with church steeples and buildings. The scene is shown from the Rocky Neck side of Gloucester Harbor. Pencil titled on reverse of stretcher. Signed lower left. Housed in what is most likely its original silver gilt carved wood fancy frame. An outstanding example of Gruppe’s early Gloucester Harbor views. SIZE: 25″ x 30″.
