CONTINENTAL PAINT-DECORATED PINE TRUNK. First half 19th century. The rectangular hinged top opening to an interior fitted with till, the pine case decorated with brick-red rectangular panels, the corners painted with white daggers on a pale blue field, the trunk painted overall in sky-blue with oxidized red borders and bound with sheet steel bands. The front painted with the owner’s name in script “Eliza Lutz”(?). SIZE: 18″ h. x 47″ w. x 24” d. CONDITION: Retains all original paint surfaces, old shrinkage crack in lid. Retains all original hardware, including lock and key. Bun feet are absent. Painted surfaces all with extensive wear and dryness. 9-91703 (400-600)
