PAIR OF HEPPLEWHITE CARVED MAHOGANY SIDE CHAIRS. Early 19th century. The arched and molded crest rail with angular ears continuing to molded stiles centering the rayed pierced splat, headed by a carved sheaf of wheat and centering a floral rosette joined to a molded trapezoidal seat rail, raised on square tapered fluted legs joined by a recessed box stretcher. SIZE: 37-1/2″ h. of back x 17-1/2″ h. of seat. CONDITION: These very crudely made examples retain their original old surface. The carvings, while not identical, are similar. Some old insect damage to frames. Difficult to determine origin. 9-91906 (800-1,200)
