UNSIGNED (Roman School, 18th Century) CAESAR VISITING THE TOMB OF ALEXANDER. Large oil on canvas interior scene shows a standing Caesar pointing at a large decorated covered urn being undraped by a young woman. A man kneels with Caesars shield and sword and a young boy holds Caesar’s helmet to the side. A standing soldier looks on as well as an elder and two other soldiers. Housed in a 19th Century gesso decorated frame. SIZE: 71-3/4″ x 56-3/4″. PROVENANCE: From a large Boston, MA area Estate. CONDITION: Relined, restored with some inpainting. In need of cleaning and some restoration but generally good. 9-99282 (5,000-8,000)
