ROMAN TERRACOTTA FIGURE OF THE VENUS GENETRIX. Circa 1st Century A.D., standing on a high square base with the inscription “Delta Iota” stamped behind, and wearing a long chiton falling from the right shoulder and leaving the left breast bare, a fold of her himation lifted high in the right hand, her hair surmounted by a stephane. (Said to be from Aphrodisias). SIZE: 9-3/4″ h. PROVENANCE: Private collection of Dr. & Mrs. Winfield Gibbs, Sunbury, PA.
