VERY SCARCE FIRST MODEL ALLEN CONVERSION RIFLE WITH BAYONET. NSN. Cal. 58. 37” rnd bbl. Standard Springfield markings on lockplate, which is dated 1863. There is an “ESA” cartouche at the rear of the counterplate and a “SWP” cartouche at the front. CONDITION: Bright metal with scattered light pitting. Casehardening on lockplate has mostly turned to silver. Black on the breechblock is bright. Edges of the wood are sharp, and only minor dents and scratches appear. Blade of the bayonet has been cleaned, but some surface rust remains. Socket is covered with rust and dried grease. 4-58729 FS103 (3,000-5,000)
