OUTSTANDING FRENCH TWO PART HEAVILY CARVED OAK HUNTBOARD. Top cabinet with two adjustable shelves and two glass doors. The glass doors with rounded top and carved frames have central vertical motif of hanging fruit and grapes with a mask head atop. Side columns with identical carving. Top cornice heavily carved with carvings below. Top section mounted on two fully carved winged griffin supports. Base having a nicely carved molded top edge below which are two side by side drawers having lion mask handles with trailing vines. Below which are two deeply carved paneled doors with one panel having hunting motif with dead game birds, hunting horn and powder horn with trailing vines. The other with various fish with marsh reed and cattail background. All in heavily carved frames. Side columns and middle column matching with fruit and mask head decoration. All resting on flat bun feet under a heavily carved molded base. PROVENANCE: Vouzelaud Family – France/Stockton Springs, Maine. SIZE: 102-1/2” h x 55” at widest x 22-1/2” at deepest.
