ROSEWELL MORSE SHURTLEFF (American, 1838-1913) “MOUNTAIN PASTURE”. Outstanding large oil on canvas landscape scene shows a hillside pasture bordered by trees and having rocks and grass. A large flock of sheep is seen grazing with mountains in the background. Fabulous sky with pink hued clouds and patches of blue. Signed lower left “R.M. Shurtleff N.A.”. Original title paper attached to back. Housed in a fine fluted cove period style gilt frame. SIZE: 30″ x 40″. CONDITION: Very good, relined with minor inpainting. 9-99952 (5,000-7,000)
