SIGNED (Continental, 19th Century) THE SLEEPING TEACHER. Oil on canvas interior schoolroom scene shows 13 students seated around a teacher seated in a large armchair who has fallen asleep. One of the boys has a crushed paper ball and is ready to toss it at the teacher. Signed lower right which possibly could be “J Jacobs”. Housed in a modern carved wood frame with linen liner.
